ABOUTThe purpose of this blog is to explore the world of Doctor Who in all its forms to draw out useful ideas that can be used in the Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space (DWAITS) published by Cubicle 7. I've been roleplaying for decades and have been a Who fan even longer. With the publication of a new system it seemed the perfect time to generate material to fuel campaigns for years to come.
BROKEN HEROESBroken Heroes is a full length novel by the writer of this blog. In Silver City a secret community play at being superheroes and villains but someone isn't playing by the rules. Unlike ‘Torchwood: Miracle Day’ I intend to get straight to the point. This series was bad, ending with a poorly conceived final episode that contained almost no drama. This is the first time I have watched a series and felt … Continue reading
Moving ahead two weeks from ‘End of the Road’ we open with Torchwood, well Torchwood haven’t actually been doing very much. Gwen has taken to robbing chemists and Jack has been recuperating in Scotland. The most productive character has been … Continue reading
We’re so close to the end yet it feels like we’re barely moving. After the build up of last week we find that Angelo didn’t have anything to do with Miracle Day and promptly dies. His death, in a world … Continue reading
Just as I’d all but given up hope the seventh episode of Torchwood ‘Immortal Sins’ rewards the viewer for their perseverance. With Gwen capturing Jack we flashback to the 1920s and his relationship with an Italian Immigrant Angelo. It isn’t … Continue reading
The start of ‘The Middle Men’, the 6th episode of this season of Torchwood, has a very well done sequence. CEO of Phicorp Stuart Owens (played by Ernie Hudson), hires an investigator to find out if land development in Shanghai … Continue reading
I would be very interested in learning how this series was written. Although ‘Miracle Day’ is a serialised story each episodes feels like its own little entity, no doubt due to the many different writers. I’ve remarked that this does … Continue reading
The fourth episode of ‘Torchwood: Miracle Day’ continues to consist of the occasional good moment ruined by everything surrounding it. I also get the increasing feeling that very little matters in each episode, with characters being introduced and then discarded … Continue reading
Perhaps the strangest decision was to show an extended preview after the first episode. It didn’t just give us a taste for what was to come but outright revealed important story points. As a result much of this episode was … Continue reading
With the central idea of Miracle Day having been established in the first episode Torchwood is now able to concentrate on showing how people are reacting. Compared to last week ‘Rendition’ by Doris Egan is a vast improvement. With the … Continue reading
